What is Emotional Intelligence and How Does it Work?

Emotional intelligence consists of four main components, according to the model developed by Daniel Goleman:

  • Self-awareness: This is the ability to recognize and understand your own emotions, as well as their causes and effects. Self-awareness helps you to know your strengths, weaknesses, values, and goals, and to be honest and authentic with yourself and others.
