We all want to live longer and healthier lives, but how can we achieve this goal? Is it possible to reach the age of 120 without suffering from chronic diseases and disabilities? According to a recent American study, the answer may lie in what we eat and how much we eat.

The study, published in the journal Nature Food, analyzed the effects of 5,853 foods on the human lifespan, using a method called the Health Nutritional Index. This index calculates how many minutes of healthy life are gained or lost by eating a serving of a certain food, based on its nutritional composition and its impact on various diseases. The results were surprising and revealing.

The study found that eating a hot dog could take 36 minutes off your life, due to its high content of processed meat, sodium, and trans fats, which are associated with increased risk of cardiovascular disease and cancer.
